Pediatric Orthopedics Treatments
Clubfoot

Dr. Saikrishna Katragadda has treated over 150 cases of clubfoot using simple casting techniques. His belief in proper casting and a bracing regimen can result in a completely normal foot, avoiding the need for surgery. For resistant or relapsed cases, surgeries such as open soft tissue release, Jess fixator application, and corrective osteotomies are available.
Knock Knees and Bow Legs (Genu Valgum)
Genu valgum, commonly known as knock knees, should be evaluated during childhood as treatment options become limited after skeletal maturity. While many children outgrow the condition by the age of 4, it's important to seek advice if you have concerns about your child's lower limb alignment.

Limb Length Discrepancies (LLD)

Limb length discrepancies may be congenital or acquired. Causes of congenital LLD include fibular hemimelia, tibial hemimelia, congenital femoral deficiency, and hemihypertrophy. Acquired LLD often results from trauma, infection, or fractures. Accurate diagnosis and timely intervention can significantly improve outcomes.
Musculoskeletal Infections
Infections in bones require radical treatment strategies, including extensive debridement and the use of antibiotic beads to eradicate infection effectively.

Intoeing Gait (Pigeon Walking)

Intoeing, or pigeon walking, is usually benign and may stem from hip development issues or habitual sitting positions (like W-sitting). Most cases are self-correcting, but evaluation can help identify any underlying concerns.
Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)
DDH is characterized by abnormal acetabular morphology, often leading to pain and instability in the hip. Timely diagnosis and management are essential, especially since untreated DDH can lead to further complications like hip osteoarthritis.

Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE)

SCFE involves the slippage of the femoral epiphysis, which can lead to altered hip mechanics. Early diagnosis and appropriate management are critical to prevent further damage to the hip joint.
Benign Pediatric Lesions
Benign lesions in children can vary in presentation and severity. Proper diagnosis and management ensure that these conditions do not impact growth and development.

Rickets

Rickets, a condition caused by Vitamin D deficiency, leads to soft and weak bones in children. Early diagnosis and treatment with supplements and dietary adjustments can prevent complications.
Flat Foot
Flatfoot is often benign and typically does not require treatment unless it is associated with pain or discomfort. We offer evaluations and treatment plans, including orthotic devices and stretching exercises for symptomatic cases.
